Back in 1941, my Grandfather, the late George Altmeyer managed to save $4,000 which he used to establish the very first Altmeyer Home Store in New Kensington, Pennsylvania in a small basement room.   This was no easy task considering he didn’t have the benefit of a high school education and also had a young family.  Times were tough but through perseverance and long hours the store caught on and soon he moved it to the main street of Fourth Avenue.  Eventually he was joined by his son Rod Altmeyer SR, our current president, and the chain has grown to 13 stores serving Pennsylvania and Ohio residents. With over 64 years of knowledge in the textile market, Altmeyer's Bed, Bath & Home is able to offer incredible products for incredible prices, something my Grandfather insisted on from the very beginning.
